Palanquin
Palanquin is a sans-serif font with a broad weight range and a single normal style. Its Latin, Latin Extended, and Devanagari subsets give it a flexible foundation for text and interface work where clear hierarchy matters. The available weights can support both quiet supporting text and more prominent headings.
Best suited for: Use Palanquin for websites, apps, posters, menus, labels, and everyday documents. Lighter weights may fit compact supporting information, while regular and medium settings can handle paragraphs or interface text. Heavier weights are useful for headings, navigation, buttons, and other places that need stronger emphasis.
Design considerations: The seven weights, from 100 through 700, allow gradual shifts in emphasis without changing the family. Use the lightest settings carefully at small sizes or on low-contrast screens, and check heavier settings for crowded headings. Because the family is available in normal style only, hierarchy will come mainly from weight, size, spacing, and layout.
Pairing guidance: For contrast, pair Palanquin with a serif that has a calm, readable texture, especially in longer editorial text. A restrained monospace can also work for code, data, or technical labels. If keeping the design sans-serif, choose a complementary family with noticeably different proportions or a narrower shape, and limit the number of competing weights.
