About this font

Kanit is a sans-serif font with a broad range of nine weights, from 100 Thin through 900 Black, plus normal and italic styles. That range makes it adaptable across display text, interface elements, headings, and supporting copy. Its available Latin, Latin Extended, Thai, and Vietnamese subsets allow projects to draw from those supplied character sets.

Best suited for: Use Kanit for headlines, navigation, buttons, posters, labels, and other interface or editorial moments where weight changes can establish a clear hierarchy. Lighter styles may suit secondary text or spacious layouts, while heavier settings can give short titles and calls to action more visual emphasis.

Design considerations: The nine weights offer fine control, so avoid using many of them without a clear structure. A light or regular weight can keep longer passages calm, while medium to bold weights help separate headings and functional text. Italics provide a useful contrast for emphasis, notes, or selected labels; check size and spacing carefully at the extremes.

Pairing guidance: For a balanced system, pair Kanit with a restrained serif for editorial contrast, or with a simpler sans-serif that has quieter proportions for supporting text. Keep the companion font’s role distinct: let Kanit handle headings or interface emphasis, and use the secondary face for reading comfort, captions, or longer passages.
