About this font

Besley is a serif font with a broad range of weights and both normal and italic styles. That gives it room to move from quieter reading text to more prominent headings while keeping a traditional serif foundation. Its variable format may also allow more flexible adjustment between available weight settings, depending on the project and tools used.

Best suited for: Use Besley for editorial layouts, article pages, book-inspired interfaces, formal invitations, reports, and display headings. Lighter or regular settings can support sustained text at suitable sizes, while heavier weights can bring emphasis to titles, section labels, and short statements. The italic style can mark quotations, references, or secondary emphasis.

Design considerations: The six weights, from 400 through 900, make hierarchy easier to establish without changing families. Keep regular or medium weights for most reading content, then reserve the darker settings for headings and compact emphasis. Italics add contrast, but use them selectively so highlighted passages remain easy to follow.

Pairing guidance: Besley can pair with a restrained sans serif when you want a clear division between expressive headings and functional supporting text. A neutral sans with moderate proportions can help balance its serif structure in interfaces and captions. For a quieter result, pair it with another serif that has simpler forms and less visual weight.
