About this font

Cairo Play is a sans-serif family with a broad range of weights, from ExtraLight through Black, and a single normal style. Its variable format allows weight adjustments along a continuous range, making it suitable for designs that need both restrained text and stronger display emphasis. Arabic, Latin, and Latin-ext subsets are supplied.

Best suited for: Use Cairo Play for headings, navigation, posters, labels, interfaces, and other layouts where weight contrast can help organize information. Lighter settings may work well for spacious display text, while regular and medium weights can support everyday interface or editorial content. Heavier settings bring added emphasis to short phrases and prominent titles.

Design considerations: The nine available weights provide room to build a clear hierarchy without changing families. Keep the lightest settings for larger sizes or generous backgrounds, and test denser text carefully before using them at small sizes. Regular to semibold weights can establish comfortable reading levels, while bold to black settings are best reserved for emphasis, compact headings, or display work.

Pairing guidance: For contrast, pair Cairo Play with a serif that has calm proportions and moderate detail, especially in longer text. A restrained sans-serif can also complement it when Cairo Play handles headings or interface labels. Choose a partner with a quieter texture, and use differences in size, weight, or structure rather than excessive decoration to separate roles.
