Fanwood Text
Fanwood Text is a serif font with a traditional reading character and two available styles: normal and italic. Its single regular weight keeps the family focused and consistent, making it suitable for projects that need a calm text setting rather than a broad range of display variations. The Latin and Latin Extended subsets are supplied.
Best suited for: Use Fanwood Text for book-like passages, essays, editorial layouts, literary projects, invitations, and other settings where extended reading is central. The normal style can carry body copy, while the italic offers a restrained way to mark emphasis, titles, short notes, or quoted phrases without introducing a separate family.
Design considerations: With only one weight, the family does not provide built-in light, medium, or bold steps for creating strong hierarchy. Keep emphasis modest and use size, spacing, or layout to distinguish sections. The normal and italic styles work well as a simple text system, but larger headings may need support from another typeface or a carefully adjusted scale.
Pairing guidance: For contrast, pair Fanwood Text with a clean sans serif for headings, labels, navigation, or captions. A restrained display serif can also work when you want a more literary arrangement, provided its shapes and proportions differ clearly. Favor companions with several weights if the surrounding interface or editorial structure needs flexible hierarchy.
