Kantumruy
Kantumruy is a sans-serif font with a clean, contemporary appearance and a focused Khmer character subset. Its regular, light, and bold weights provide a compact range for text hierarchy, from quieter supporting copy to more prominent headings. With only a normal style, it is best approached as a clear, upright option for interfaces and everyday layouts.
Best suited for: Use Kantumruy for Khmer interface labels, navigation, short articles, informational pages, menus, and presentation text. The regular weight can carry ordinary reading, while bold can mark headings or key actions. Light may work well for larger display text or restrained secondary information where size and contrast remain comfortable.
Design considerations: The three available weights make simple hierarchy easy without relying on italics. Use 400 for most continuous text, 700 for titles and emphasis, and reserve 300 for sufficiently large text with strong contrast. Since the family has no italic style, distinguish secondary information through size, spacing, weight, or layout rather than slant.
Pairing guidance: For a mixed-font layout, pair Kantumruy with a restrained sans-serif that has compatible proportions and a quiet texture. A serif with moderate contrast can provide separation for headings or editorial accents, provided its Khmer coverage is confirmed separately. Keep the companion font limited to a supporting role so the hierarchy stays easy to follow.
